Born and brought up in Llanrwst, the author, discovered that the cottage was the birthplace of Trebor Mai, a renowned poet who died in 1877. Also her own ancestors had owned a neighbouring farm, and this story will intrigue those interested in the area as well as the restoration of ancient buildings. In 1955 Charlie Corke a civil engineer working in Snowdonia found "...the old, stone built cottage, square, ground and first floor, a single door in the middle, four windows and two chimneys... pushed at the forgotten wooden door and ventured in." The first edition of "Hidden Home" ran to two impressions and has been out of print since 2021. A postscript has been added to this second edition in answer to many readers' query - "what happened to the cottage after the family went to Malta?".
