The magic potion's secret is closely guarded by Asterix and his fellow villagers as they resist the Roman invader. The potion, brewed by the druid Gwyddoniadix, gives those who drink it superhuman strength, and is coveted by the local camp centurion. The centurion has a cunning plan to acquire the potion, but is he clever enough to outwit Asterix?

Y flwyddyn yw 55 Cyn Crist, ac mae gwlad Gâl wedi ei choncro gan y Rhufeiniaid, heblaw am un pentre bychan sy’n llwyddo i gadw’r Rhufeiniaid draw. Mae Titus Taliadbonus, canwriad gwersyll Rhufeinig Dalpenrhesum, bron â thorri’i fol eisiau gwybod beth yw’r gyfrinach y tu ôl i nerth rhyfeddol y rhyfelwr eofn Asterix a gweddill y Galiaid sy’n byw yn y pentre gerllaw. Asterix y Galiad is the brand new Welsh edition of Asterix the Gaul, the first volume in the internationally successful Asterix series which has sold 350 million copies worldwide since 1961. The series in Welsh is the first in Britain to publish the recently restored, coloured and inked Asterix artwork (including new covers), allowing the series to take full advantage of contemporary full–colour printing techniques. In 55 B.C, the whole of Gaul has been conquered by Caesar, except for one village of indomitable Gauls which continues to resist the Romans. Titus Taliadbonus, centurion of the garrison of Dalpenrhesum, is desperate to discover the secret of the amazing strength of the plucky warrior Asterix and his fellow Gaulish villagers. The hapless legionary Caligula Minus is sent on a spying mission to the Gaulish village, where he’s given some of the druid Gwyddoniadix’ magic potion which gives the Gauls their superhuman strength. The Romans decide to kidnap Gwyddoniadix to get his secret, but the druid’s lips are sealed. When Asterix arrives to save the druid, the Gauls have an opportunity to teach the voracious Romans a timely lesson.
