Better Houses Have Windows charts the author's moves, every six months to two years, from childhood to adult life with wit and wonder. In a state of constant displacement, she flits from tents and gypsy caravans to a short-lived stint at boarding school, from lodgings and house sitting to a two-room rental she can nearly call home.

Susie Wild is the author of the Edge Hill Prize long-listed story collection The Art of Contraception and the ebook novella Arrivals (Parthian 2010, 2011). She has performed her poetry in dives and dance halls since 2006 including Green Man, The Laugharne Weekend, The Dylan Weekend, Pili Pala, Dinefwr, Birmingham Literature Festival, Glastonbury, Hay Festival and Hay Poetry Jamboree. She has an MA in Creative Writing from Swansea University and an MA in Journalism from Goldsmiths. Her poetry and fiction have been published in magazines, anthologies and even on cake including The Lonely Crowd , Wales Arts Review , Ink Sweat & Tears , The Lampeter Review , Rising and Poetry Digest . She was commissioned, in collaboration with artist Beth Greenhalgh, to create a new multi-media piece ‘Sex Change Disco’ performed at Made in Roath and Cardiff Contemporary 2016. Born in London, she lives in a house with windows in Cardiff, sharing it with a German prop maker and their Welsh cat. Adolygiad y Cyhoeddwr / Publisher Review

Susie was Writer in Residence at the Mothership, Dorset (Summer 2016) and won a place on the Tŷ Newydd Autumn Poetry Masterclass 2016 with Gillian Clarke and Imtiaz Dharker. Her poetry has recently been selected as an Ink Sweat & Tears Pick of the Month and a First Thursday performance winner (judged by Amy Wack and Cynan Jones).
