Judith Barrow has lived in Pembrokeshire for thirty years. She is the author of the wartime saga Pattern of Shadows, and has published poetry and short fiction, winning several poetry competitions, as well as writing three children's novels. Her play: My Little Philly was performed at the Dylan Thomas Centre in Swansea. Judith grew up in the Pennines, has degrees in literature and creative writing and makes regular appearances at literary festivals.

The war is over, but for Mary the danger isn’t… 1950: Mary is living in mid Wales with Peter, a German ex-POW, and working as a nurse, though she knows her job is in danger if they find out about Peter. When her brother Tom is killed, Mary is devastated, especially as nobody will believe that it wasn’t an accident. Her sister Ellen and best friend Jean come for the funeral, expecting Mary to sort out their troubles as ever. Ellen has left her husband, while Jean is pretending all is fine in her marriage, but doing her best to get Mary to leave Peter and come back to Lancashire. Mary is sure this will never happen, but she has no idea of the secret Peter is keeping from her ...
