This volume invites readers to explore the stylistic resources of Welsh by comparing twentieth and twenty-first century prose in Welsh and in English translation (as well as the reverse direction). This technique brings out numerous linguistic and stylistic devices that reflect the characteristic idiom and expressive spirit of idiomatic Welsh writing.

Kevin Rottet is an Associate Professor of French Linguistics and Adjunct in Linguistics at Indiana University where he teaches courses on language contact, lexicology-lexicography, translation, and the structure of Breton. Steve Morris is an Associate Professor of Welsh at Swansea University where he teaches in the fields of language and applied linguistics. He is a co-investigator on the CorCenCC (Corpws Cenedlaethol Cymraeg Cyfoes – National Corpus of Contemporary Welsh) project.
