Gareth Williams lives in Pontypridd and is Emeritus Professor of History at the University of South Wales. He has specialized in the popular history of Wales, and has lectured and published extensively on the rugby and choral traditions of Wales. The Fields of Praise, which he co-wrote with Dai Smith, is considered the definitive history of the Welsh Rugby Union’s first hundred years.
