Tom Lloyd-Roberts (1937-2002) was one of the most prestigious antiquarian book dealers of Wales, and started his own business in his family home, Old Court, Caerwys, Flintshire. He possessed a remarkable knowledge of Welsh history and contributed to preserving Caerwys' cultural heritage. In 1968, he staged the re-enactment of the first National Eisteddfod of 1568. He was involved with the Caerwys Historical Society and was co-author of a town guidebook in 1979. Tom Lloyd-Roberts was instrumental in celebrating Caerwys' traditions and royal connections, and was enthusiastically involved in organising the Caerwys Investiture marking the 200th anniversary of the Royal Charter in 1990. He was a very meticulous genealogist, who had thoroughly researched his family tree, and was a proud descendant of the Lloyd family of Llanelidan near Ruthin.
