Simon Weston OBE is a former British Army soldier who became well-known after suffering severe injuries during the bombing of the RFA Sir Galahad in the Falklands War. After recovering from his initial injuries, he has worked tirelessly for charity and is now a well-known personality on radio and television and is in demand as an after-dinner speaker throughout the UK. David FitzGerald is the voice of Saturday mornings on BBC Radio Devon. He started out in radio in the early 1980s, before moving to television, reporting for Sky News. He is also an experienced writer, having scripted television favourites such as The Bill and Spitting Image. Jac Jones is an acclaimed author and illustrator. He has worked on all of the previous books in the Nelson series: A Nod From Nelson and Nelson To The Rescue, as well as many other successful children’s books including Pont Books’ Legends From Wales series.

Nelson at Sea is the third in Simon Weston’s successful series of stories for children, charting the adventures of Nelson the carthorse who lives with Mike the milkman at the St Mary Dairy in Pont-y-cary. Life is always an adventure for Nelson and his stable-mates; with two rats called Rhodri and Rhys, a pigeon with no sense of direction, an ex-racehorse named Cardigan, a frog in a bow-tie, and a bunch of rugby-playing ducks (the All-Quacks), chaos and a lot of fun is often just around the corner! In this new escapade, Nelson and his stable-mates are very, very excited; they’ve spotted a travel brochure in Mike’s kitchen and are convinced that they are all being taken on a holiday! Sadly, as Mike explains, he is indeed going away on a milkman’s mini-break, but without them. Undaunted, Nelson and his friends decide to book a holiday of their own, to Tenby! In Tenby, the gang meet their landlady, Mrs Rhonda ‘the view’ Pugh, and are thrilled with their superb accommodation: one single room, an en-suite stable, two holes in the skirting board, a deluxe pond with a shower and a sea-facing perch! Despite creating their usual mayhem, all ends well for Nelson and his friends when they help Huw and the Tenby lifeboat crew save a beached whale named Llywelyn. Now all Nelson has to do is get everyone back to the St Mary Dairy before Mike notices they’re gone!
