Bywgraffiad yr Awdur / Author Biography

Abeer Ameer was born in Sunderland and grew up in Cardiff, Wales. She originally trained as a dentist and has an MSc in Conscious Sedation in Dentistry from Cardiff University. Her poems have been widely published including in Poetry Review, Magma, The Rialto, Acumen, Atrium, Poetry Wales, New Welsh Review, and Long Poem Magazine. Her debut collection Inhale/Exile (Seren Books, 2021) was shortlisted for Wales Book of the Year. Abeer was recently commissioned by Remembering Srebrenica Wales to write a piece to commemorate the victims of the Srebrenica Genocide. Abeer's poem 'at least' won the Forward Prize for Best Single Poem (Written) in 2025.
