This is a comprehensive social and technical history of a mine in the Swansea Valley. The information within came from years of research in archives and local old newspapers and from interviewing several Tareni miners or their widows and families. There is a great deal of accurate technical and geological detail but also much social history on the strikes and the illnesses that plagued the mining industry. But this book tells also of the miners' social lives and there is much on the leisure pursuits and achievements of those miners and their families.
