Bianca Bellová is a Czech writer with Bulgarian connection. She is the author of eleven books to date (eight novels and three collections of short stories), and publication rights for her work have been sold to twenty-six languages. Her most successful novel Jezero (The Lake, 2016) won the Czech national prize Magnesia Litera for the Book of the Year, the EU Prize for Literature, and the EBRD Literature Prize. Her latest book Brief Guide to Departing (released September 2026) deals with the little control we have over the way we part with the world and how (un)helpful this world can be. She lives in Prague with her British husband.
