Bywgraffiad yr Awdur / Author Biography

Llwyd Owen is an award-winning Welsh novelist. He has published six acclaimed Welsh-language novels and one English language adaptation. He is also a published poet and photographer who presented his own television documentary on S4C on the Cardiff art scene in 2008. His second Welsh novel, ‘Ffydd, Gobaith Cariad’ won the 2007 Welsh Language Book of the Year award. An English language version, ‘Faith, Hope, Love’ garnered favourable reviews, with Suzy Ceulan Hughes calling it “deftly plotted and pitch-perfect in its pacing” (‘New Welsh Review’); ‘Time Out’ magazine praising it as “an absorbing fable… enjoyable and pacey… providing a thoughtful take on what it means to be alive and how suffering can control and overwhelm you” and the ‘South Wales Argus’ claiming the author to be “Wales’ answer to Irvine Welsh”. His third novel, ‘Yr Ergyd Olaf’, was published in November 2007 and was long listed for the 2008 Welsh Language Book of the Year award.

Adolygiad y Cyhoeddwr / Publisher Review

Reluctant Hitman. Prostitutes. Pimps. Hells Angels. Bad Men. Italy’s Most Famous Singer. Corrupt Policemen. Gardeners. Herbs. Tomatoes. Tattoos. Betrayal. Revenge. Love Story. Welcome to ‘The Last Hit’, a new novel by Llwyd Owen. The life story of Al Bach (aka Tubbs) forms the backbone of this novel – from his miserable childhood in Swansea under the clipped wings of his mother Foxy, a prostitute, and Calvin, his tyrant of a father. We follow him through his boyhood in the company of T-Bone, head of a Cardiff branch of Hell’s Angels. Under his deceitful control, he settles into a career as a hitman, before facing a fateful challenge that will change his life.
