As Tintin pursues a gang of drug smugglers he's locked up in the brig of Caiptean Habairadag's ship, where the captain is under the influence of the bottle and under the thumb of his dastardly crew. With the scorching Sahara desert at one hand and the depths of the Mediterranean on the other, Tintin and his friends in some dangerously dire straits.

A can of crab meat proves to be a vital clue as Tintin and Dìleas follow a series of strange pointers which lead them to pursue a dangerous gang of drug smugglers. But it doesn’t all go Tintin’s way – the intrepid reporter and his faithful hound are holed up in the brig of the Karaboudjan. Intriguingly,this is Caiptean Habairadag’s ship, and this is where Tintin first encounters his future best friend. But here, Habairadag is completely inebriated and subdued in his decisions by a motley crew of dastardly sailors. With the searing heat of the Sahara to one hand, and the dangerous waters of the Mediterranean to the other, this adventure is the ultimate threat to Tintin’s continued survival…
